What makes a promising young dressage horse?
Movement matters, of course. But when searching for a young dressage prospect, we believe it should be evaluated alongside conformation, temperament, willingness to cooperate and the horse's individual stage of development. A youngster that gives an exciting impression today may still need years of patient and appropriate education before its full potential can be assessed.
A three-year-old may already show spectacular leg action, while qualities associated with advanced collection can take years to develop. Our long-term breeding goal is to develop rideable dressage horses with lasting quality.
Our breeding philosophy begins well before a horse is offered for sale. We choose bloodlines with a focus on riding qualities and build on mare families developed within our own program. By knowing previous generations, we gain useful context about temperament and development. That knowledge informs our decisions, but no pedigree can promise an individual horse's future.
Which age group fits your plans?
Our main focus is on foals and young dressage horses up to five years of age. We occasionally have older horses. Different ages suit different expectations, so we encourage buyers to be realistic about their experience, training resources and timetable.
- Foals and yearlings: for people interested in following the horse's development over several years with appropriate young horse management.
- Two and three year olds: for buyers comfortable with a period of further growth, early handling and the beginning of education when age appropriate.
- Four and five year olds: for buyers who would like to get to know a young horse under saddle, with the prospect of gaining their first competition experience in the near future and building on a sound foundation for further training towards the higher levels.
- Older horses: occasionally available, depending on our breeding and training program at the time of enquiry.
Personal. Tailored. Exclusive. As a matter of principle, we do not list our horses on public sales platforms. Instead, we introduce them individually and only upon personal enquiry – to respect the individuality of each horse and preserve the exclusivity of our personal approach.
Rideability and character are part of quality
Our ambition is to breed horses that can become enjoyable partners in daily life as well as under saddle. A clear mind, willingness to learn and an appropriate rider match can be especially important to an ambitious amateur. However, suitability is always specific to the horse and the rider, never a blanket label for an entire breeding program.
If you are looking for a horse with a particular temperament, we invite you to explain your riding background and expectations. A harmonious partnership between horse and rider is always our priority.
From first enquiry to personal introduction
Tell us your preferred age, training experience, riding goals and indicative budget. We then discuss whether we have a suitable horse and, if so, introduce it personally. This allows us to focus on a few potentially good matches instead of sending an impersonal public list.
International buyers are welcome. Personal visits near Vienna can be arranged, and we are happy to help coordinate specialist equine transport for overseas purchases.
